The Statement Piece
A statement pieces, every girl needs them. Wether it be a pair of killer jeans, a great embroidered bomber or a patched up over sized jean jacket. Which brings me to this blog post, what it means in having a statement piece and how to work it into your wardrobe.
A statement piece is exactly that, a statement. It's something that stands out in your outfit or just in your closet and it's something you can wear with just about everything. Now, not every statement piece is versatile, it's a statement piece for a reason, you wear it with a couple different outfits, to make that look feel complete or you wear it with a more simple look to make it feel that more special.
Lately, with the way fashion has taken a turn, we can find more statement pieces in a variety of different types of garments. Jeans, jackets, skirts, tops, and even shoes! It has become easier to work that statement piece into your wardrobe and to the looks you want to wear it with. We are seeing this in patched and embroidered everything. Which I am personally obsessed with!
Which brings me to my next point, I recently came across this amazing jean jacket from Blondie Boutique in Calgary, Alberta. This new little boutique has become a super popular store in a very short period of time, and has also become one of my new favorite stores to shop at. About the jacket, I bought it in a medium, the small fit perfectly, I was just looking for something a little more oversized, the medium did it. What I fell in love with were all the patches! From little rainbows, ice cream cone patches, to rocket ships, and roses, the jacket spoke to my inner 90's kid. It came home with me shortly after laying eyes on it.
The jacket itself is a statement piece, the oversized look, and patch work made it something different. A conversation piece, and also something I can wear with just about everything. I've been able to layer it with a jacket underneath or keeping it simple with a cute T-shirt dress. The little red dress is also from Blondie Boutique, I loved the cut outs in the front with it's small knot. Minimal and cute. My statement jean jacket tied the look together perfectly.
As for the jacket, you'll be seeing more of it. But I'm curious, what's your favourite statement piece?
